Buy a Motorcycle Driving License A1 and A2
The first step towards becoming a full-time biker is to buy an A1 motorcycle driving licence and A2. It allows riders to operate bikes that is up to 125cc and with the maximum power of 11 kW and to transport passengers.
The licence can be upgraded at age 19 after the completion of CBT Theory and Practical Tests to category A, which allows the driver to drive any motorbike and to carry passengers.
Compulsory basic training (CBT)
CBT is a compulsory course required before you can buy an A1 motorcycle driving license. The CBT is a combination of classroom and practical training. The classroom portion teaches you about the safety issues of riding a bike while the practical portion is completed on state-owned motorcycles. Your instructor will show you how to operate the basic controls on the bike. They will also demonstrate the most appropriate low-mid speed maneuvers.

You must be able to score at least 10 minor faults to pass the Module 1 test. Theory Test
A theory test is required to purchase the motorcycle license. This is not the same as a car theory test and the questions are designed specifically for motorbikes. After passing the A1 test, you can then start to consider upgrading to a full-A license. A1 holders may upgrade to full A status by passing two practical exams. The first test is conducted on an unlicensed moped with the maximum power of 11 kW and the second one is on small bikes that are up to 120cc. Once you pass these tests, you are able to take your scooter or motorcycle with a person as a passenger, and without an L plate.
You must be at least the age of 24 and have your A1 license for at least two years to qualify for the A2 test. If you are younger, you can still upgrade to an A2 licence, but you'll need to keep your A2 licence for two years and your licence must be in good standing. You can also pass both the A1 and A2 tests at the same time, and then upgrade to a full-A license when you reach 21.
Practical Test
The practical test is a vital part of your training programme and is the final step before you are eligible to purchase a motorcycle license A2. The course will prepare for the test in practice and is split into two parts, referred to as modules one and two. Both modules will have the same format, but they will be different in the way they are conducted.
Module one is focused on closed circuit-riding, while module two is conducted on roads that are public. The tests are based upon your riding skills that you have learned during your CBT or motorcycle training. The tests are designed to assess your ability to drive a motorcycle and to demonstrate your understanding of the risks associated with motorcycling.
Both modules require you to complete a series of exercises including right and left circles, as well as figures-eights on the road. You will also be required to perform a controlled u-turn. You'll need an automobile for the test, along with an individual driver to transport the examiner. The driver must be at least 21 years old, and demonstrate that they can safely drive a car and motorcycle.

Upgrade to A2
The upgrade to A2 is the first step up the ladder to an unrestricted licence. This enables you to drive motorcycles up to 125cc with or without a sidecar. It also allows you to ride up to 35kW/47hp. This is quite an increase in power over what the A1 license can provide. This license allows you to transport passengers as well as use motorways.
The new rules are part of a government policy to ease regulations whenever feasible, to the benefit of both riders and drivers. The government believes the changes will allow more people to take up riding as a hobby and as a profession. Therefore, they allow people to complete their motorcycle test on bikes that have lower power than the ones previously permitted. The vehicles that are less powerful must, however, still be able to meet the other requirements for the category A2 test, such as the size of the cylinder and power-to-weight ratio.
You must be at least 24 years old to upgrade from an A1 license to a category A license. A valid theory test certificate is also required. You must have passed your A2 practical test in less than 2 years after passing your CBT or you must have taken the entire process of progression starting with an A2 restricted license, and then upgrading to a full-A licence two more years later.
There are other restrictions that apply, for example, you must have held an A2 licence for at least two years in order to be eligible for the upgrade.
